Do not apply more than once every 3 hours.
Can bonjela Junior Gel be used in adults?
Yes. bonjela Junior Gel is designed for adults, the elderly and children over 3 months.
Why can’t I use bonjela, bonjela Cool Mint Gel or bonjela Complete Plus for under 16s?
This is because there is a possible association between salicylates (pain killer and anti-inflammatory), one of the ingredients in bonjela 16+ range, and Reye's syndrome when given to children. Reye's syndrome is a very rare disease which affects the brain and liver and can be fatal.
For children under the age of 16, you should use bonjela Junior Gel from 3 months or bonjela Teething Gel from 2 months of age.
When should I not use the bonjela range of products?
You should read the label and patient information leaflet carefully especially if you are:
- suffering from a peptic or stomach ulcer, or liver or heart problem
- allergic to salicylates, lidocaine or other local anaesthetics, or any of the ingredients in the products
- taking other medicines which thin your blood, or are used to treat gout or water retention
- pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast feeding (speak to your GP or pharmacist before taking).
This list is not exhaustive. Please refer to the patient information leaflet for details.
